How Your Wall Estimate is Calculated

Structural Depth

Length & height tells us how big the wall is. From there, we calculate everything that goes into building it properly-the stone you see, the foundation you don't, the drainage behind it, and the hours it takes to do each step. That's how we get to the final number.

Before: Project Start in Woodstock

The Starting Point

Original slope in Woodstock requiring a two-tiered structural solution.

Drainage System

Water is a wall's greatest enemy. For retaining walls, we calculate an 18-inch thick column of clear drainage stone and perforated pipe behind the wall to eliminate hydrostatic pressure-the #1 cause of wall failure.

During: Drainage Installation Woodstock

Strategic Drainage

Installing clear stone and filter fabric to eliminate hydrostatic pressure behind the wall.

Logistics & Waste

We calculate exact bundle counts based on total face area. Our system automatically includes a 10% waste factor for cutting and shaping, ensuring your project has the precise amount of material delivered.

After: Completed Project Woodstock

Precision Result

The completed two-tiered Proterra wall with integrated steps in Woodstock.

Frequently Asked Questions

We'll call you to arrange a visit. We take measurements and talk about your landscaping goals, what you like and dislike about your property, how you want to use your yard, your budget and many other things. Then we'll prepare a design for you based on your answers. We refine the design until you approve it. You leave a deposit and we arrange everything else including ordering the materials, scheduling and any permits required.

There are different rules for each municipality. If it's exposed to the public (like a walkup to your front door) or over 1m tall (3'3") it probably will require a permit and sometimes engineering. Also steps more than 4 risers tall may require a permit. We handle this entire process for you.

We build heavily compacted, wide gravel bases and use proper geogrid reinforcement layers tying the wall block deep into the soil behind it, preventing forward lean. Of course, proper drainage is essential to prevent heaving.

No never hidden costs ever! The only additional costs are typically municipal permit fees (if required) which we handle. This applies more to walls and vertical features. Stuff like steps and firepits may require permits depending on the scope and municipality. But we outline all disposal costs clearly in your initial quote - no surprises.

A patio installation could take as little as 5 days. Of course, this depends on many factors like material selection, final patio size, and existing site conditions.

If you contact us there is no obligation, you simply reserve your discount. We don't like high-pressure sales either.
